Whitby Receives Some Bad News
Leaflets describing the impacts of the Puketiro windfarm have been delivered to houses in the Whitby area.
Are you prepared...
for the huge windfarm which is planned to be sited a few kilometres from your home and the noise, blade-glint and low frequency vibrations that may affect you?
Can you tolerate...
the reduced desirability of your property and the consequent devaluation due to the proximity to these industrial structures that will be seen from your street?
Do you realize...
that wind generated energy is very unreliable (overseas and local experience indicates they would be unproductive over 60% of the time), the electricity can’t be stored and would go into the National Grid – not exclusively for the local area?
Can you imagine...
the visual impact that 130 metre (425 feet) high turbines will have on the
Pauatahanui ridgelines, hills and inlet?
Can you comprehend...
that the turbines proposed are higher than the State Insurance building (105 metres) and the radio mast at Titahi Bay and there would be over FIFTY of them?
Are you ready...
for a sea of randomly flashing red aviation warning lights on top of the turbine towers every night of the year? The impact of the Pauatahanui Windfarm (Puketiro) on our community and on the visual splendour of the local hills and inlet we currently enjoy must not be underestimated. It’s too late to complain after the damage is done. There are alternative forms of sustainable energy generation that are reliable, consistent and will not damage the environment.
